Our beliefs
Oak Valley Presbyterian Church unequivocally holds that the supreme authority in all matters of faith and life are the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments which we believe are the inspired and inerrant Word of God. We are committed to the system of doctrine contained in the Westminster Standards (The Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms) believing them to be an accurate restatement of the theology of the Bible.

Our mission
Our mission flows from a deep love for our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, and a commitment to His mission to make, mature, and multiply disciples. To that end, we aspire to be a people whose primary identity is found in Him and whose chief desire is to glorify and enjoy God in every area of life. By integrating our faith into our vocations, recreations, and relationships.
Our values
Alongside our doctrinal commitments, we hold to a set of values that are rooted in a Reformed theological ethos. Our values are: Proclaiming His gospel, Sharing our lives, and Living Hopefully & Redemptively.
We desire to glorify God through the faithful proclamation of the gospel, the embodiment of authentic Christian community, and the advancement of God’s redemptive and hope-filled purposes in the world.

Proclaiming
his gospel
The gospel is God’s gospel (Rom.1:1-2). In Scripture, God is the first evangelist and teller of its message (Gen. 3:15; Gal. 3:8). As its author, God alone determines the content of the gospel. No one is at liberty to make up their own gospel (Gal. 1:8-9). Indeed, our role is to faithfully proclaim its unchanging message and power to save and transform the lives of all who trust in Jesus. The gospel announcement is this: through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God accomplished our redemption from the power of sin, death, and the Devil. That is, by reconciling us to himself and qualifying us to share in His Kingdom - by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
Sharing our lives
Scripture encourages us to care for and love one another in such a way that we “not only share the gospel of God but our lives as well” (1 Thess. 2:8). Christian community exists for our mutual edification and God uses it to “encourage, comfort, and urge us to live lives worthy of God who called us into his kingdom and glory” (1 Thess.2:12). Christian community is also an identity that we share as fellow-citizens of God's kingdom and members of God's household (Eph. 2:19). Therefore, it is crucial for the Christian life that we share our lives as brothers and sisters in the Lord. Sunday worship is equally important as a public expression of our unity in Christ and corporate participation in the ordinary means of grace (The Word of God and Sacraments).

Living hopefully
& redemptively
The hope of the gospel, rooted in the sure promise of resurrection glory, is both a future certainty and a present power breaking into our lives. It reshapes how we live, how we understand reality, and how we endure suffering. This living hope anchors us in the promise of the new creation that is to come, even as it transforms us now to live for God.

Because of this hope, we are compelled to join God in advancing His redemptive and hopeful purposes in the world. As a church, for us this means seeking the cultural, social, and spiritual renewal of our town, so that the beauty and power of Christ’s kingdom may be seen, felt, and experienced by all who call Stellenbosch home, both at a systemic and personal level.
